Veterinary Student Volunteers

FARVets accepts veterinary student volunteers who are enrolled at an accredited veterinary college and have completed at least their first year of veterinary school.  Veterinary students perform spay and neuter surgeries under the supervision of a licensed veterinarian, and also have the opportunity to practice venipuncture, place intravenous catheters, intubation tubes and monitor anesthesia.  FARVets trips are capped at six veterinary student participants.  Veterinary student volunteers from Cornell College of Veterinary Medicine are eligible for one distribution credit by participating in a full 7 day FARVets clinic.

Veterinary student volunteers pay an $800 support fee to FARVets which covers medical supplies, meals, housing and transportation for the duration of the trip.  Student volunteers are responsible for booking and paying for their own airfare to and from the clinic site.

If you are interested in participating in a FARVets clinic as a student volunteer, please complete the form below for more information.  If you have general questions please use our Contact Us Page.
